Flow Screed Types

Which floor screed should you use?

Flooring is an essential component of any structure. It takes the brunt of our daily activities and is often the first surface exposed to wear and tear. As such, it is vital to invest in floors that can cope with regular foot traffic while simultaneously adding value to your property.

With various types of floor screed available in the market today, determining which one to use is important. If you are having a hard time choosing the most suitable one for your home or establishment just give Flo-Pro a call

Here are a couple of products commonly used

Classic Flo Screed

This is the most commonly used of the GYPSOL Calcium Sulphate Floor Screed range. GYPSOL Classic is a general purpose flowing screed, using synthetic anhydrite harvested from the waste material of the chemical industry, and is for use in all interior non wearing floors whether heated or unheated, bonded, unbonded or floating and where no special strength or durability requirements are present but still is adequate for you typically used laminate, vinyl, karndean, carpet or tiles.

Gypsol XS

This is a high strength anhydrite screed is suitable for the encapsulation of an underfloor heating system, either electric or warm water. Gypsol XS is suitable for use in both residential and commercial including apartments, schools, prisons, hospitals and single dwellings where higher loadings and more durable screeded floors are required. In common with all screeds, Gypsol XS screed also improves the environmental characteristics of the floor and still adequate for you typically used laminate, vinyl, karndean, carpet or tiles.

Long floor

This is a cement based liquid screed batched from cement, sand, water and a limestone powder based binder containing additives to enhance flow and reduce shrinkage

Put simply cement based flowing or liquid screeds have all the advantages of their gypsum based equivalents with none of the disadvantages.

  • High strength
  • Cement based flowing screeds dry in as little as 21 days.
  • Can be used in wet room areas
  • has no surface laitance.
  • Can take foot traffic within 24/48 hours
  • Requires no priming under any type of flooring adhesive
Long floor is at the forefront of all flo screed products and is our personal favourite.
