Traditional sand/cement screed
This is currently the most commonly used method for two reasons.
Tradition and probably not having ever used liquid flow screed before. This method consists simply of sand mixed with cement and water to a semi-dry consistency such that it can be shovelled, trowelled and levelled in to place. This screed can be either delivered premixed at cost or mixed on site, the size of job will determine this. The disadvantages are that this method is slow to apply requiring much manual labour on hands and knees. This method also provides a less even surface than flowing screeds and the thermal conductivity is worse than flowing screeds because the contact screed to heating pipes is not as close. Arguably this is not the modern way to apply a screed and is gradually being replaced by flowing screeds.
Flowing Liquid Screeds – gypsum based or cement
These flow readily from a pump and can be placed much faster than traditional screeds making it more cost effective – laying up to 1500m2 in a day!. They give a smooth, even surface and have good thermal conductivity. Win win. . . And even Despite the inherently high water content and also the ability tho reduce thickness massively the screeds rarely crack or curl like we all know the traditional Method has a habit of doing.

Our team will assist you with the calculations for your project, we just need you to provide us with your floor size and project requirements.
The calculation used: floor area (m²) x average screed depth (mm) = Cubic meter (m³).
We will provide you with a quote and upon your acceptance we shall arrange with you a suitable pour date and time to screed your floor and send you our invoice. Please note, full payment is required ahead of the agreed pour date.
Our service is to install the screed only, please note it is your responsibility to ensure the area is prepared adequately and that it is for purpose to take the weight of the screed being laid.
